Buchanan won its third consecutive Division 1 girls title with 40 points at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno. The Bears secured their fourth overall, including a Division 2 crown in 1994, and joined Palos Verdes (1987-89), Agoura (1990-92) and Great Oak (2012-18) as the only Division 1 programs to win at least three in a row. Senior Grace Hutchison covered the 5-kilometer layout to place second in 17:30.3, sophomore Sierra Cornett finished fifth in 17:41.6, freshman Tayler Torosian took ninth in 17:47.8, freshman Kynzlee Buckley grabbed 11th in 17:58.7, senior Sydney Sundgren achieved 26th in 18:33.6, sophomore Avery Hutchison earned 63rd in 19:19.7 and sophomore Elle Lomeli was 158th in 21:42.2 for Buchanan, which is scheduled to compete Dec. 3 at Nike Cross Nationals at Glendoveer Golf Course in Oregon.
